Bilic expects Carroll will stay

Andy Carroll likely to stay at West Ham - Slaven Bilic

Striker Andy Carroll is a "big asset" for West Ham and is unlikely to be sold during the January transfer window, says manager Slaven Bilic.

Carroll has made 10 league appearances for the Hammers this season but has only scored once and is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.

But Bilic said: "I don't think [he will be sold]. We need players. We need him fit and we need him back.

"He's a big weapon for us and he fits into my attacking plans."

Carroll, 26, is in contention to return to the side for the Boxing Day game with Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Bilic says he intends to speak to defender James Collins, who is out of contract at the end of the season, about a new deal.
