Chelsea Women face Fiorentina in Europe

Chelsea will face Italian side Fiorentina in the Women's Champions League round of 16.

The Women's Super League champions, who reached the semi-finals in Europe last term, were seeded for Monday's draw.

The first leg of the knockout tie will be played in London on 17 or 18 October before the return leg in Italy on either 31 October or 1 November.

Meanwhile, Scottish side Glasgow City - who were not seeded - were handed a meeting with Spanish giants Barcelona.

Britain's only other representatives in the knockout stage, Manchester City, were eliminated after a 3-1 aggregate loss to Atletico Madrid last Wednesday in the round of 32.

The Spanish champions' reward for overcoming City is a tie against last season's beaten finalists Wolfsburg, from Germany.

Elsewhere, holders and five-time winners Lyon, from France, will face Ajax of the Netherlands.

Emma Hayes' Chelsea reached the round of 16 thanks to a comprehensive 11-0 win on aggregate against Bosnia & Herzegovina side SFK 2000 Sarajevo.
