Dundee Utd 10 point adrift after Hearts defeat

Hearts consolidated third place in the Scottish Premiership as Dundee United pressed the self-destruct button.

Juwon Oshaniwa's rash challenge on Scott Fraser let Billy McKay fire United ahead with an early penalty.

But Gavin Reilly soon whipped in the equaliser, before Prince Buaben's shot was spilled by keeper Michal Szromnik and Osman Sow scored with a penalty.

A Fraser free-kick drifted in off a post, but United's hopes effectively ended with Mark Durnan's red card.

Hearts piled on the pressure thereafter, but those first-half goals were enough to end a run of five games without a win and leave United 10 points adrift at the foot of the table.
