England lose in Nations League to Spain
England made a disappointing return to action following a superb World Cup campaign as they were beaten by Spain in their inaugural Nations League game.
Things began well at Wembley as Luke Shaw set up Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford to fire England ahead.
But Spain hit back instantly via Saul Niguez's rifled finish before Rodrigo stole in to put the visitors in charge.
Danny Welbeck thought he had levelled in injury-time but the goal was ruled out for a foul on David de Gea.
In more bad news for England and Manchester United, Shaw was carried off on a stretcher early in the second half following a lengthy stoppage while he was treated for a head injury.
