Leeds United have made a formal approach to speak to Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke.
Rovers appointed Clarke as assistant boss in 2013 and he has been offered a new deal at the Memorial Stadium.
He was manager when they were relegated to the National League in May 2014, but since then the 38-year-old has led them to back-to-back promotions which sees them in League One next season.
MK Dons boss Karl Robinson turned down an offer on Friday to manage Leeds.
Clarke began his managerial career at Salisbury City, where he secured four promotions in five seasons before joining Rovers.
After they were relegated out of the Football League in 2014, they bounced back via the play-offs 12 months later before they were promoted again on the last day of the 2015-16 season.
Current Leeds manager Steve Evans has received no word on his future at Elland Road, but is due to return to work at the club on Wednesday.
