Motherwell against St Johnstone has passed a pitch inspection from referee Crawford Allan.

The club said the pitch had been hit by torrential rain.

Motherwell goalkeeper Connor Ripley and top goalscorer Louis Moult have recovered from illness, with Joe Chalmers the only absentee ahead of the evening kick-off at Fir Park.

Chris Millar and Graham Cummings return for St Johnstone, but David Wotherspoon and Simon Lappin miss out.

Dundee's Scottish Premiership game at home to leaders Celtic, which was also due to kick off at 19:45, has already fallen victim to the weather.

But Hamilton Academical's home match with Inverness Caledonian Thistle went ahead in the 15:00 kick-off.

Aberdeen host Partick Thistle and Dundee United are travelling to Edinburgh to face Hearts in the other evening matches.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee: "It was a huge thing for us all and we still remember Phil [O'Donnell] fondly.

"The first thing I did this morning was to send a text off to Clarky [David Clarkson, O'Donnell's nephew] just to make sure he knows that I'm thinking that.

"It won't be something we will all be talking about today. Those of us who were here and those of us who knew Phil will be thinking about that at some point.

"We get on with life and there could be no better way of doing that than maybe winning the game tomorrow night to celebrate that."

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright: "Motherwell are an experienced side but have brought in some young players too and have pace in their side.

"And they have a goalscorer in their team in Moult.

"They work extremely hard for each other and have quality throughout the team.

"Mark McGhee has turned it round and put his own stamp on them and they have picked up.

"But we have only had two defeats in 13 and, like every game, it's a game we feel we can go and win."
