TEAM NEWS

Everton pair James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman have returned to training but the visit of Swansea may come too soon.

McCarthy has played just once since late November because of a groin problem, while Coleman has missed three matches with a calf injury.

Swansea have no new injury concerns ahead of new head coach Francesco Guidolin's first game in charge.

The Italian may keep faith with the side that earned a much-needed win against Watford on Monday night.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES

Steve Bower: "Neither of these sides are where they wanted or expected to be at this stage of the season.

"Everton's inability to close out victories has cost them dearly. I watched their 11th draw of the season last weekend at Chelsea. If close to half of those draws had been wins, they would be right in the European hunt.

"Swansea badly needed Monday's victory over Watford and now it will be fascinating to see how they try and move forward under Francesco Guidolin.

"The Italian will be aware they need more of a goal threat as he experiences English football for the first time. If he can lead his new club to their first ever league win over Everton, he'll really get people believing."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Everton manager Roberto Martinez on transfer speculation involving Romelu Lukaku: "We are not going to even consider losing a member of our squad who has been important and will be important for second half of the season.

"It (Lukaku's ambition) goes hand-in-hand because at Everton we want to play Champions League football, so it is good to have a shared target.

"You have seen an evolution in his play which has been quite magnificent. He is a special footballer for us.

"Speculation is all positive. You don't get that sort of reaction if you are not playing well."

LAWRO'S PREDICTION

Everton keep conceding late goals that cost them points but it is going to happen because they are a Roberto Martinez team - their manager plays open, attractive football but his problem is he cannot close the back door.

Martinez's old team Swansea have got bigger problems, though. When I watched them against Watford on Monday night, they won but they looked like a Championship team.

Prediction: 2-0
