TEAM NEWS

Tottenham are without midfielder Dele Alli, who serves a ban for accumulating five bookings.

Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose are set to return after being rested on Thursday, when Spurs beat Qarabag in Azerbaijan.

Chelsea captain John Terry is a major doubt with an ankle injury, although manager Jose Mourinho has "a little hope" the defender will be fit.

Ramires will also be monitored after suffering a muscle problem on Monday.

Cesc Fabregas is fit despite suffering a minor toe injury in midweek.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES

Simon Brotherton: "Tottenham look more impressive with every passing week, but this will be a real test of their top-four credentials against opponents they have rarely beaten in recent years.

"Last season's 5-3 win on New Year's Day is their only victory over Chelsea in the last dozen meetings between the clubs.

"Spurs have coped pretty well with the Thursday-Sunday schedule necessitated by the Europa League, but Qarabag was almost a 5,000-mile round trip.

"Chelsea, on the back of two league and cup wins without conceding, will have the advantage of two extra days rest, having played in Israel on Tuesday."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino: "We will make sure we will arrive in a good condition to play Chelsea. We have a strong squad and a strong mentality.

"It is true we arrive maybe not in the best condition to compete in the right way but [we] respect our medical staff for what they do."

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Spurs' fixture list: "Big clubs, they cope with difficult moments.

"We played a Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid - Wednesday and Tuesday. In the middle we had to play Liverpool. So we play Sunday before the Champions League.

"If it's not a problem for us, it's not a problem for Tottenham."

LAWRO'S PREDICTION

I am still not convinced by Chelsea, although they have won their last couple of games. But I think they have got enough about them to go to White Hart Lane and pick up a point.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Tottenham's 5-3 win against Chelsea on New Year's Day is their only victory in their last 12 league and cup games against the Blues (D5, L6).
  • That result is only the second time a Jose Mourinho-led side has conceded five times (his Real Madrid team lost 5-0 to Barcelona in 2010).
  • Mourinho is without a win in his last three visits to White Hart Lane (D1, L2).

Tottenham Hotspur

  • Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 12 league games. If they avoid defeat on Sunday it will be their best run since a 14-match streak between November 1984 and March 1985.
  • Spurs have scored at least three goals in three of their last four league games at White Hart Lane.
  • They have lost just two of their last 20 league games at home (W12, D6).
  • Tottenham and Manchester United are the only sides yet to lose at home in this season's Premier League.
  • Harry Kane has scored 12 times in 14 Premier League games against London opposition.

Chelsea

  • The Blues have the chance to win back-to-back league games for the first time this season.
  • They have earned four Premier League points away from home this season (W1, D1, L4). Only Aston Villa, with three points, have a lower tally.
  • Eden Hazard has scored in his last three Premier League appearances against Spurs.
