TEAM NEWS

West Brom striker Saido Berahino has recovered from a stomach bug, while fit-again goalkeeper Ben Foster could play his first league game this season.

Chris Brunt, Darren Fletcher and Jonas Olsson are all doubts, while James Morrison is out for eight weeks.

Aston Villa may be without Gabby Agbonlahor because of a hip injury, while Carlos Sanchez will also have a fitness test on his hamstring problem.

Alan Hutton, Adama Traore and Jordan Amavi remain sidelined.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES

Simon Brotherton: "A 2-1 home win over West Brom last season gave Tim Sherwood his first victory as Aston Villa's manager - helping to spark their successful fight against relegation.

"A similar result at The Hawthorns this weekend would be Remi Garde's first away win since taking over, and perhaps give them a faint glimmer of hope.

"But these are difficult days for those of a claret and blue persuasion and the club's hierarchy were not surprisingly grilled by fans at the Supporters Trust AGM this week.

"Matches between these two clubs always seem to be close and there's nothing to suggest anything different this time, with Albion looking to do the double over Villa in the top flight for the first time in just over 50 years."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis: "The more games you play the more injuries you pick up.

"The squad will be tested... we could be a little be threadbare, but we'll have a go."

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde on whether he will recall Micah Richards: "It is not an easy situation because Micah used to be the captain of the team for the start of the season.

"But then I have to consider as well the last two games we played were very interesting in many aspects.

"I have to be fair with everybody, with every player in my team."

LAWRO'S PREDICTION

I was surprised to see West Brom taken apart by Southampton last weekend. That is something that happens very rarely to a Tony Pulis side and it was typical to see them react by digging in and getting a win against Bristol City in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

I am expecting another positive result for the Baggies this time too, despite Aston Villa's mini-revival.

Prediction: 2-0

  • West Brom can do the double over Villa in the top flight for the first time since the 1964-65 season.
  • The Baggies also won both fixtures in the 1973-74 campaign, when the sides were in Division Two.
  • Albion have won two of their last 13 home games against Villa in all competitions (D5, L6).
  • All 19 Premier League meetings have ended either as a draw or with a one-goal margin of victory.

  • Their seven league wins this season have all been by a single-goal margin (1-0 or 2-1).
  • The Baggies have won two of their last nine Premier League games (D4, L3).
  • Rickie Lambert has scored four Premier League goals versus Aston Villa - more than against any other opponent.

Aston Villa

  • The Villans have scored just eight goals in 11 Premier League games under Remi Garde.
  • After earning three points in their opening-day win at Bournemouth, Villa have picked up just two in their subsequent 10 Premier League away games (D2, L8).
  • They could go three league games without defeat for the first time since an eventual five-match unbeaten streak between November and December 2014.
  • Aston Villa have received a league-high 48 yellow cards in this season's Premier League, but are one of only five teams yet to be given a red card.
